Members of Yosemite High School’s Art Club participated in the Blacklight Show, an open gallery tour put on with Sierra Art Trails during the Fall Arts Festival. It was the largest turnout ever recorded. Nearly 300 visitors signed in the guest book.

There were poems displayed in glow in the dark paint, a fluorescent bouquet of flowers, as well as glow in the dark vampire teeth and face painting.

The next exhibit planned will be labeled the Stick Show. Students in Art II will be showcasing still-life pictures drawn with sticks dipped in ink.
The last project completed by Rivka Schaffner’s Art I class combined the binary code with a drawing of a human baby.

A show displaying the Advanced Placement students’ realistic rendition of three human faces is in progress. The next project for AP students will be a rendition of three bodies with clothing.

Those in Art II are currently working on Japanese Brush Paintings, and Art I students are carving Mayan Calendars out of clay.

The club’s new president for next year is Phillip Fayne from Coarsegold Elementary. Art Club invites the rest of the school to bring in their creative work, whether it be welding, wood or theater arts.

One person noted that art is a valuable asset to the school, because the students produce amazing work, are involved in the AP program, and play a role in introducing art to other students.
