For her senior project at Yosemite High School, Laci Usher is putting on the dramatic production, Grease.

Grease will be performed February 23 and 24 and March 1 and 2.

It is a very tedious process and takes a lot of work to put on a dramatic production of this sort, Usher says.

First of all, she had to get permission from the school to perform this production on campus. Then she wrote to Samuel French, who is the publisher of Grease, to request permission and to obtain a license to put on the production.

The license fee itself would have cost Usher $750, except the Oakhurst Vision Academy of the Arts is sponsoring her. After she obtained the license, she ordered all of the scripts and musical scores.

Next, she held auditions, organized practices and, at the moment, the cast members are learning all of the songs.

There are about 20 people in the cast and 10 on the crew. There are drama coaches, a piano player and various members of the community who want to help any way they can.

There are many extras in the production, and Usher says they are very important to the outcome of the performance, which has been a long time dream for Usher.
