Sidewalks are needed to make Road 427 safer

School Road (427) is a very unorganized road. There is no sidewalk that allows students to walk safely. There aren't any stop signs for cars to stop to let people walk across. In the morning and afternoon, there are people walking on the road to get to and from school.  It is very dangerous because some people drive way too fast in the area and there is a lot of traffic.

Two years ago, my brother wanted to be dropped off at the apartment across from the Oakhurst Elementary School because he didn't want to go to Oak Creek Intermediate School (OCI) to drop me off. He got out of the car, smiled at me, and waved. My mom and I went to OCI. A couple of minutes later, a group of people came to tell me my brother had just been hit by a car. My heart sank. The only thing going through my head was the smile that he gave when he got out of the car and his expression when the car hit him. I was so scared! No one saw what happened, so we don't know. I don't think that would have happened if there had been a sidewalk for him to stand on. He was lucky to walk away with only scrapes and bruises.

The way I think we could prevent these kinds of accidents is have a place for people to stand or walk.

Another place that is very dangerous is the turn on to Road 427 from Indian Springs Road. A stop sign should be placed on Road 427. It is very hard to get on the main road from Indian Springs in the morning, because of traffic.

The way I think we can prevent so much traffic is have all schools on a different time by 15-20 minutes. The only problem with that is people's work schedules, but it will help with less traffic jams and less accidents.
