Seven Yosemite Joint Union High School District staff members will retire at the end of this school year. They were honored June 4 at a retirement dinner attended by almost 100 people.

Retirees are: Jerry Robison, George Winebrenner, Ed Willy, Glen Dibble, Sharon Willy, Mary Pope and Susan Sundberg.

Robison and Winebrenner were both employed at the district for 24 years; Ed Willy was here 23 years. Dibble was on staff for 21 years, Sharon Willy and Pope were each here 18 years and Sundberg worked at the district for seven years.

The retirees have seen many changes at YHS through the years including a tripling of the student enrollment from less than 400 to over 1200; the new and remodeled buildings in recent years and a change in the students. Some mention that students seem to be less respectful now than they were a few years ago and the way they dress has changed significantly.

The retirees’ plans for the future include spending more time with family in general and grandchildren in particular, travel, projects around their home and working.
