Yosemite High track coach Walker Vaughn expects his varsity boys’ team to win the league championship this year and he expects the girls to finish third.

The coach says YHS senior Fred Worstein is the fastest runner in the state. His record times are 10.63 in the 100-meter dash and 21.9 in the 200-meter dash.

The Central Sequoia League championships were held yesterday, May 6, at Sunnyside in Fresno.

The Sequoia / Sierra championships are May 13 followed by the masters championships May 20 and the state championships June 4 and 5.
Earlier this season, the YHS track team participated in the First Chance Meet at Sunnyside, the Selma relays, the Buchanan Invitational, the Fresno Relays, Sanger Easter Relays and the Lemoore / Kiwanis Invitational.
The team traveled to Stanford for a meet in March.
