Construction project continues

The construction project is continuing at Yosemite High School. The work over the past three years has been made possible with money from a bond that was passed in 1998.

During the summer, work was slowed down on the baseball fields for about five weeks while the construction crew was taken off the job to fight fires. This was a temporary slow down and now the work is progressing nicely, according to Kevyn Moberly, district director of maintenance, operations and transportation.

As far as the baseball fields are concerned there still is no completion date.

The designs for the concession stands have been completed. All of the water lines have been put in and the leveling  of the junior varsity and varsity fields will begin to take shape over the next couple of weeks.

The plans for the music room are in high gear. The survey for the land was completed during last school year and everything is at the right elevation. With the green light given, work has begun on the underground drainage and hopes are that all the steel will go in over the next two weeks.

There have been a lot of small utilities such as the extension of the water and sewage pipes so that they will run under the football field and eliminate some of the recent problems.

The swimming pool project is still moving forward. Half of the money that is needed to begin construction on it has been obtained.

The initial construction is hoped to begin in June of 2003, according to Moberly.

During the summer of 2003 improvements are to be made on the plans for the pool and finalizing the music room project. By the start of school next year expectations are that the renovation of the drama department will have begun.
