Local Community Awards Night
May 14, 2003

Yosemite High School seniors received $95,655 worth of community awards at the annual ceremony on May 14, 2003. These awards are given to graduating students by business, service clubs, churches, schools and individuals. Awards are also given in memory of several local residents, including YHS graduates.

Jeanne Ratchford, a YHS counseling technician, chairs the event and works throughout much of the year to raise the funds for the students.

"The amount of awards increases every year, thanks to the generosity and support of the community," Mrs. Ratchford said.

Students submit applications for the various awards and, according to many presenters, it is extremely difficult to select from the pool of well-qualified seniors. More than one indicated that they simply gave an additional award because the decision was too difficult.

Anyone interested in participating in the awards program can contact Mrs. Ratchford at 683-4667 ext. 314 to talk about being part of the event for the Class of 2004.
