Ground preparation is continuing for the 23-classroom building that will be constructed at the front end of the Yosemite High School campus (top photo). Mounds of crushed granite are on site as part of the project. District officials expect the foundation to be poured in May. The building should be ready for use at the beginning of the 2005-06 school year.
Work is
also underway on the football stadium and track (bottom photo). The
football field will be renovated and a new all-weather track will
be installed. The track surface will be made with recycled California
tires; a portion of the cost of the project is funded through a $100,000
grant from the California Waste Management Board that requires the
surface be made from recycled tires. It is hoped that the football
field will be ready for graduation ceremonies in June. New ball fields
have recently been completed and are being used by the baseball and
softball teams this spring. |
