There will be games, prizes, a silent auction, a drawing every half
hour, and food. Coarsegold Elementary School students in the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program participated in the Peach Blossom Oral Interpretation Festival at California State University, Fresno recently. They competed in pairs, trios and small groups. Each group from CES received the highest rating, Superior. One group, shown above, performed for their peers at the 3rd quarter awards assembly. The students are (left to right): Erin Asis, Eirena Ewert, Erik Strauss, Jackson Soares, Destiny Anger and Kiana Miller. Students from Valerie Porter’s third grade class and Mary Ann Englehart’s fifth grade class participated. GATE students have also visited the Castle Science and Technology Center in Atwater and visited the Chaffee Zoo’s Wild Connections Lab. Beginning in May, GATE students may enroll in the Virtual School for the Gifted in Australia. They can participate in a web-based course with three to five other students from around the world. Classes will range from a mystery writing course to ancient Egyptian civilization. The Flat Stanleys,
