| This
is the first edition of a newspaper for the Yosemite Joint Union High
School District and the Coarsegold Union School District. The School News
will be published every other month and circulated through the Sierra
Star and the Sierra Home Advertiser, thus assuring delivery to every home
in Eastern Madera County.
We are most grateful to Betty Linn, publisher of the Sierra Star, for
her cooperation in making this possible. We have enjoyed a professional
relationship with the Sierra Star since the beginning of the YJUHSD and
we look forward to working with them on this project.
This newspaper is by no means meant to replace our news coverage in the
Sierra Star. The purpose of School News is to showcase our students and
their activities more fully than we could ever expect the Star to do.
I believe communications is extremely important, particularly in times
of change such as we will be seeing because of the budget crisis. At this
time, we do not anticipate any major changes in either school district,
but one never knows how long this crisis will continue or what challenges
we have waiting for us.
About three years ago, we hired a Web master, Judy Durr, who works parttime
to keep Web sites for both districts up-to-date with as much information
as we have available. We will continue to expand these sites, offering
the public a way to access any information they need from the districts.

We
welcome comments, questions and suggestions about this newspaper and about
our Web sites. We want to provide the information the public wants and
we will continue to do that in as many ways as we can.
If you have comments about any of our forms of communication, please call
Earlene Ward at 683-8801 ext. 338.
