Many Rivergold students
participated in the Billboard Art Contest at the Fresno Metropolitan Museum.
In the Grades 3-5 category, there were a number of local winners.
To promote the new A.S.K. Science Center at the Met, the theme, “Music
and Sound” was chosen. The children used various art media to create their
works of art. Becky Cano, Rivergold art teacher, submitted work done by
upper graders. Linda Webster submitted work done by her third graders.
The first place winner, Rebecca Wrede (Penny McKeand’s fifth grade) won
a $100 savings bond and will have her artwork reproduced on a billboard
in Fresno. The second place winner, Antonia Mele, (Linda Webster’s third
grade) won a $50 savings bond.
The following students received Honorable Mention: Amanda Bausch (Mrs.
Webster), Annie Williams (Nancy Coulombe) and Mary Christine Gomez, Taylor
Jensen (both from Mrs. McKeand’s fourth grade). These students have been
invited to the Met on April 29 for a special reception in their honor.
