Leadership class called a good addition to school

BOB ROSE

The leadership class has been a wonderful addition to the Rivergold campus. The class is comprised of 6th and 7th grade students who are interested in making River-gold a dynamic and fun place to learn. The class includes elected student body officials as well as students who desire an active role on campus.

The 2002-03 elected officials are: Ben Hand, president; Michael Sayre, vice president; Calliope Holingue, secretary; Makenzie Hager-man, treasurer; Leisa Lowry and Amanda Norton, activity directors, and Ian Sands, Jaycee Martin, Kyle Bohigian and Lisa Hensley, class representatives.

In its first year, the leadership class has successfully planned 7th and 8th grade dances, fundraisers for the student council, and school wide assemblies. The class has also been a part of community activities such as decorating the Rivergold Christ-mas tree on display in Oakhurst during the holidays. A small group of the leadership students was also responsible for displaying Rivergold students’ work at the recent Showcase of Schools.

Leadership students take an active roll on the Rivergold campus. They provide the school with daily announcements, help out with recess equipment, and offer support to primary students in the parking lot at the end of the school day.
