Library book donations can be ordered on-line

Those who would like to help the Yosemite High School Library through book donations can now do so on line.

YHS Library Media Teach-er Betsy Blum has announced that books can be ordered for specific librarys on the Amazon.com Wish Lists site.

Blum and YHS teachers will put together a list of needed books that will be posted on the Amazon site.

To make a donation, go to the Amazon web site and click on Wish List then type in Yosemite High School.

The customer can then review the school Wish List and add an item to their order. The book will be sent directly to YHS.
A short wish list has already been created and more will be added.
State funding for school libraries has dropped substantially in recent years.

In 2000, the funding was $28.47 per pupil. That dropped to $5.33 per pupil in 2002 and to $1.41 per pupil this year.

That means that YHS was receiving over $34,000 for library books in 2000 and will receive approximately $1,700 this year.

District Superintendent Bill McCabe calls this project “a wonderful opportunity for us to receive books.”

The YHS Library is a part of the Library of California Project that allows statewide virtual library access and resource sharing.
