Students
and adults alike, don’t be afraid to follow your dreams. Many times
we have already decided that it is impossible before we take our first
step. Ten years ago I had a dream of climbing the world’s tallest
active volcano, Mt. Cotapoxi 19,400 feet in Ecuador after watching
a Warren Miller Ski Movie.
Over the course of the last 10 years it seemed like it would never
happen and I lost sight of the dream. In my mind I would say, I’m
too old, it’s too far, it’s too tough.
With the help of a close missionary friend and former Oakhurst resident,
David Hoffman, I was able to achieve my dream.
What is your dream? It might be learning to read, making the baseball
team, or being on the honor roll. Whatever your dream is your parents,
teachers and friends are here to support you and give you the tools
to achieve your dreams.
When things seem impossible remember the words of Sir Winston Churchill,
“Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet
there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending,
ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the
journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy
and glory of the climb.” Your dreams can come true as long as you
dare to dream.
Dream! Believe! Achieve!
