| Eighth
graders from Coarsegold School have begun taking steps toward their
transition to high school.
Earlier this month, they attended an orientation meeting with Yosemite
High School counselors and then the next evening there was a special
presentation for the eighth grade parents by the YHS counselors.
“This was a terrific opportunity to begin to plan a student’s course
of study leading through high school to post secondary educational
and career opportunities,” comments Coarsegold Principal Randy Haggard.
High school registration will be March 3. For information, call Anita
Danihel at 683-4842 ext. 250.
Prior to students attending the meeting with high school counselors,
the Coarsegold seventh and eighth graders were guests of YHS for a
special assembly.
YHS graduate Ted Lilly, now a pitcher in major league baseball for
the Toronto Bluejays, brought a special program to YHS entitled Radical
Reality.
The assembly stressed making positive choices and goal setting. It
was presented by Donny Moore, who is a chaplain for the Oakland Athletics,
for whom Lilly played before being traded to Toronto.
