Horticulture students beautify school

Rivergold Students Horticulture Class

Students in the Rivergold Horticulture class, a new enrichment class for sixth and seventh graders, have completed the garden at the front of the office.

As visitors approach the office, they are greeted with a colorful garden, complete with a red, white and blue patriotic border around the flagpole, and a picturesque dry creek bed. The addition of the bird bath and river rocks spelling out HAWKS completes the project.

Funds for this project were obtained from a PTA donation, as well as a donation from Outback Materials and Oakhurst Rocks.

“We are proud of the finished product, and of our students who designed, planned and worked hard to install the drip irrigation, the rocks and planted the lovely flowers,” says Rivergold Principal Bob Rose. “Many thanks to Leslie Pisel, kindergarten teacher at Rivergold, for instructing the horticulture class this semester. And a great big thanks to our students for their hard work!” Mr. Rose concludes.
