Rivergold PTA gives 2200 hours of service

Rivergold School’s PTA members have volunteered approximately 2200 hours of service to the school this year, according to the group’s historian, Antonetta Haggard.

Carol Holt, PTA president, says this has been one of the most successful years in the group’s history.

Some of the PTA activities include: Reflections, a nationally sponsored program that features students’ art work and photography; the Science Fair with 237 students participating; purchase of new school uniforms for athletes; and donation of garden tools and supplies for the horticulture projects at the school.

A spokesman says as Rivergold expands next year to accommodate eighth graders there will be a lot of focus on upgrading the school’s library for these students.

The PTA-sponsored Book Fairs have consistently provided funding for the library. All Book Fair profits go directly towards the purchase of books and library supplies.

Marta Haggard is in charge of providing dinners for the PTA events, providing a family meal at a modest price.
