Yosemite High athletes won several Central Sequoia League (CSL) championships
during the Fall season
For the first time since 1984, and the second time in school history,
the football team won the League championship. The Badgers crushed
Kingsburg 40-14 in Kingsburg to cinch the championship.
Last year the Badgers did not win League but went to the playoffs
and took the Section championship.
The football team was scheduled to meet Coalinga in the first round
of section playoffs November 14.
The varsity volleyball team went as far as the semi-finals where the
Badgers lost a heartbreaker in the fifth game November 13 to Porterville
High School.
Girls’ cross country won League and the boys’ team was second in League.
Both teams advanced to the section finals.
Kaitlyn LeRoy took first in singles in tennis.
The YHS girls’ golf team took second in League.
YHS Athletic Director Tom Fiormonti has praise for the players and
coaches. “It was an outstanding season,” he said.
Principal Steve Raupp is also pleased with the program’s successes.
Practices are getting underway now for the winter sports schedule
that includes boys’ and girls’ basketball, wrestling and soccer. The
winter season will begin November 25 with a boys’ basketball scrimmage
against Fresno at YHS beginning at 4 p.m.
