Adults
aged 19 and over may enroll in the Yosemite Adult School Independent
Study program to earn a high school diploma or prepare for the General
Educational Development (GED) examination.
For information about the program, or to make an individual appointment,
call Janice Dissmeyer at 683-8801 ext. 367.
As with all Yosemite Joint Union High School District students, Yosemite
Adult High School students create their own senior projects.
One of the projects for the Class of 2003 was entitled My Dream and
was created by Crystal Johnson, a member of the Chukchansi Tribe.
To meet her personal goals, Johnson decided to return to high school
to earn her diploma. In addition to being busy with four daughters
and 10 grandchildren, she works part time in the tribal office.
Even with all of these obligations, she found time to complete her
weekly assignments through the program.
At the alternative education graduation ceremony, Johnson challenged
those adults who want or need a diploma to return to the program offered
through the YJUHSD.
