The Beginning of EAST...
EAST all started one day when destiny came to knock. Yosemite High School had shown enough of their abilities and was then given a grant for a new computer class called EAST. The year was 2001. We were one of the first 10 schools in California with this opportunity and we were not going to waste it. The person responsible for this new grant was Mrs. Ward.
When the grant came to Yosemite High, the worth of it was $250,000 for our new building and all equipment. This included computers, printers, monitors and support supplies. Some of the first teachers for the EAST Lab were Mr. Cole and Mr. Pesetski. After the first year went by, Mr. Collins came into the picture and took over from then on.
With the EAST Lab running for the past 4 years, we have had tremendous changes in our community and in our school. Some of the main changes that occurred at the school are the Marquee Sign, Swimming Pool, GPS mapping for deer hunting trails and environmental water reporters, and video for Madera county police. Thanks to the EAST Lab, we have more things than we would of ever had without the help of the EAST Partnership.
