‘Sound of
Music’
performances
will star YHS students

The first
musical production by students at Yosemite High School will be presented on two
consecutive weekends during February.
The
always-popular “The Sound of Music” will be performed in the drama room at the
YHS Performing Arts Center.
Dates are
Friday and Saturday, February 9-10; and
again on Friday and Saturday, February 16-17. There will be evening
performances at 7, with a 2 p.m. matinee on both Saturdays.
Tickets
are available for $7 each at Dorsey’s Hallmark and Oakhurst Frameworks, or by
contacting the YHSChoir Room on Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call
683-4667, extension 242, and leave a message with your name, phone number,
number of tickets and which performance.
Tickets
are expected to sell quickly, so the students hope you will act right away.
“The Sound
of Music”stars YHSstudents in all four grade levels. There are also three
younger residents, ages 8, 11 and 13, in the cast.
The
producer and musical director is Alison Sciarrino, with Travis Costell as
production manager.
Ginny
Corless and Michelle Ousey are the directors.
Ethel
Jordan will provide piano accompaniment for the show. Jacob Burrow and/or Nick
Starkey will accompany some songs on the guitar.
The production
is an independent project and will serve as the senior project for many YHS students
involved in direction, production, set-design and the performance itself.
