YHS
pitcher Eric Stolp earns a baseball scholarship to University of Paciic.
Eric
Stolp, a Yosemite senior baseball player, has just signed a letter of intent to
the University of Pacific in Stockton. There are two early signings. One of
the signings occurs in November, and one of them occurs in April.
If he is
drafted in the pro draft at the end of the year, the letter of intent does not
obligate him from signing a professional contract.
His
scholarship is worth in the neighborhood of $22,000 and pays for everything except
room and board which is around $6,000.
Eric has
been recruited by Fresno State, Loyola and Long Beach State.
According
to Yosemite’s head baseball coach, George McWherter, “Eric may go very high in
the pro draft, especially if he has a good senior year.”
Eric is a
pitcher and a shortstop. Last year he was an all-league player. Eric is an
excellent student, and he is interested in engineering. This is an area of
academic strength for University of Pacific.
